  1. The quality of water

Layer cageshave strict requirements for water quality. There should be less impurities in the water, and the pH should be between 6.0-8.5. If there are more impurities in the water, especially when the water contains more soluble minerals, the palatability of the water will be reduced and the water consumption will be reduced. In addition, some drugs can also reduce the water intake of chickens. Therefore, the chicken should be given fresh, cool and clean drinking water.

  2, production performance

The use of chicken cages to raise chickens has higher requirements for water sources, and the greater the water demand for chickens. For example, adult chickens drink more water than chicks; in chickens of the same weight, water shortage occurs faster in young chickens than adult chickens; laying hens drink more water than non-laying hens.

  3, ambient temperature

Broiler cages raise chickensunder the production conditions, due to changes in the environmental temperature, the water consumption of the chickens varies greatly. High temperature (above 30°C) usually increases drinking water.

   4. Feed structure

Some feeds such as rye, leather and certain minerals such as salt, etc., can cause chicken loose stools, so the water demand increases. The protein level in the diet is too high, which can increase the amount of drinking water, because the excessive nitrogen in the chicken body must be excreted from the kidneys, and the chicken has the worst ability to concentrate urine, so it is necessary to increase the drainage to excrete more nitrogen, thereby increasing the water demand Increase. The increase in crude fiber content in the feed increases the amount of feces of chickens, which also leads to an increase in water demand.
